Mosport International Raceway, the first purpose-built road course in Canada, was designed and built in the late 1950s and conducted its first major event in 1961 – the Player’s 200, a sports car race that was won by Stirling Moss in a Lotus 19. The hairpin complex of the 2.459-mile, 10-turn road course is named in his honor as he suggested that it be two distinct corners in order to be a greater challenge to the drivers. |
